WEDNESDAY CLUB: Last Wednesday was a typical extremely cold winter day, but the weather notwithstanding, a goodly complement of members braved the elements for their fortnightly meeting and very glad they were that they had done so, for they were regaled with a wonderful show put on by a group of ladies and one gentleman. They had kindly stood in for another entertainer who was ill. Members watched a delightful show which included music from the 50s, nostalgically recalling younger more carefree times, there was the pathos of a sad clown to the tune of `Where are the Clowns?' and some highly amusing sketches and dancing, the whole being permeated by the feeling of joyfulness emanating from the troupe and their leader Kate. The enjoyment of it was such, that on any dull dreary day, of which there are many at this time of year, members can recall that truly lovely show and really powder their faces with sunshine as sung by one of the performers.   more...
